Preview 2024
The start of the year is good for a review of 2023 but also for a preview of 2024. What are the plans of François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters for the new year?
First we can expect several translations of Le retour du capitaine Nemo:
- English: The return of Captain Nemo
- German: Die Heimkehr des Kapitän Nemo
- Italian: Il ritorno del capitano Nemo
- Dutch: De terugkeer van kapitein Nemo
And also Polish and Spanish translations are announced for 2024.
We also might see a theatrical and musical adaptation of Le retour du capitaine Nemo: a show featuring Benoît, a musician, a percussionist and a singer who will play the role of Captain Nemo. And there will be live drawings by François and projections. Schuiten: “We're trying to recapture the fascination that Verne also had with shows. He loved having his books adapted. He loved very spectacular things” 1).
Compulsion, a project by François Schuiten and Adam Roberts, will be published in November 2024 by Dargaud. It's a new version of Adam Roberts story, illustrated by François Schuiten with images already seen and new ones.
From 29 May until 4 November 2024 François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters will be part of the exhibition “Bande Dessinée (1964 - 2024)” in Centre Pompidou 2).
François will be guest of honour at the Swiss Délémont comics Festival that will be held in June 2024 3).
At the end of 2024 the Nauti-poulpe will pass through Brussels - settling in front of the Palace of Justice from December 2024 to February 2025. The sculpture will stay in Brussels for three months.
