Spectacle Musical "Le retour du capitaine Nemo"
Spectacle Musical “Le retour du capitaine Nemo” is the theatrical and musical adaptation of Le retour du capitaine Nemo that is performed since 2024.
This musical multimedia show features Benoît Peeters (narrator), Bruno Letort (composer and musician), Xavier de Lignerolles (singer) 1), Pierre Quiriny (percussionist) and Jean-Marc Fessard (bass clarinettist).
François Schuiten and Félix de Lemos (video artist) are responsible for live drawings and projections.
François Schuiten: “We're trying to recapture the fascination that Verne also had with shows. He loved having his books adapted. He loved very spectacular things” 2).
Performances
The premiere of this musical was on April 28, 2024 at 11am in Strasbourg (Cité de la musique et de la danse) during Festival Arsmondo Utopie 3) 4).
The musical will also be performed in:
- Festival BD en Périgord, Périgueux on October 11, 2024
- Brest on December 6th, 2024 6)
Also a performance in Amiens and Brussels is being planned.
First performance
The first performance was on April 28, 2024 at 11am in Strasbourg (Cité de la musique et de la danse) during Festival Arsmondo Utopie.

Work in progress
François Schuiten and Félix de Lemos had a working session on the video graphics in March 2024. Benoît Peeters shared the following pictures 10).
Starting April 1st, 2024 the team had their five days of rehearsals at the Projection Room in Brussels. Benoît Peeters 11) 12) 13), Xavier de Lignerolles 14) and Bruno Letort 15) shared the following pictures .
On Saturday April 27, 2024 was the final rehearsal for the first performance in Strassbourgh. Benoît Peeters 16) and Xavier de Lignerolles 17) shared the following pictures.
