Imaginarium BD (L')

François Schuiten at L'Imaginarium BD L'Imaginarium BD took place at the heart of the Foire du Livre 2013 in Brussels. In an dark futuristic and mysterious atmosphere the biggest names in the French comics offered an unique show. They drawn live for nearly three quarters of an hour before a fascinated public, whose eyes followed without blinking features that appear progressively on the designers sheet, broadcasted on a big screen. 1)

François Schuiten

At March 7 2013 it was the turn of François Schuiten to perform, the author of the Obscure Cities had four designs to offer to the public. 2)

The first image takes us to the desert where a man who seems lost, falls before a giant book. A mirage? No doubt. The cover girl extends her arm to the man and almost get out of the book.

The second drawing shows the man tied to the book by mysterious links.

They draw enigmatic individual to work. sees the third book flying over a vast aquatic. The book is half open, the man attached to the middle, held by the bonds of the previous design.

Finally, the last drawing takes us into space with planets alongside the flying books. In the foreground a man is sitting on the side of a book, opposite to the book cover is the woman who had originally invited him. The man extends his arm in his direction. It outlines a movement towards him.
