Opening of the exhibition "Plagiat! (& co)"

PLAGIAT ! (& Cie) is an exhibition at Gallery Champaka in Brussels from April 27, 2023 until May 13, 2023.

In 1982, with Le Réseau Madou, Alain Goffin reinvented the Clear Line of Hergé – following the approaches of Floc’h, Ted Benoît, Chaland and others.

Seven years later, with a script by Benoît Peeters and François Schuiten, Plagiat! (Les Humanoïde Associés) enabled him to appeal to a more adult readership. This ferocious fable depicts a contemporary painter who, after being plagiarised, experiences a veritable descent into hell. A diabolical marriage between Clear Line and Modern Art. A mythical work whose creators have just published a new version (ed. Anspach), for which Goffins has traced, relettered and recoloured his pages.

In 1992 and 1997, taking the same approach to combining elegance with intelligence, there appeared Le Théorème de Morcom (Les Humanoïdes associés) and Northreed Project (Dargaud).

Galerie Champaka is privileged to exhibit high-quality original artworks from these three graphic novels, as well as illustrations from Retour à la Rapée (ed. Arboris) published in 1993. The icing on the cake: two paintings by Stefan de Jaeger and a photograph by Marie-Françoise Plissart, linked to the world of Plagiat!, complete this exceptional exhibition! Multiple proof that these universes by Goffin have not aged one bit!

Yves Declercq 1) made the following pictures during the opening night at April 26, 2023.
