Pestalozzi, J.H.

Johnn Heinrich Pestalozzi (1746 - 1827) is the (green fingers) editor in chief of L'Echo des Cités. Articles by Pestalozzi can be found in the special edition of L'Echo des Cités for the Mondes (im)parfaits exhibition. Pestalozzi is also teacher.

As a teacher he invited Mary to his institute in Yverdon when she was send to a boarding school after she started to lean 30°. Pestalozzi believes that you should address the intelligence instead of the memory of the children. Education should be based on Rousseau's philosophy: include the head, the heart and the hand.

A statue pays homage to him in Yverdon-les-Ombres. His glasses are still on the desk that he occupied at the Yverdon castle. He was married with Anna Schulthess.
