Foucault, Léon

Leon Foucault is a French physicist born in Paris (1819-1868 AD). He invented the gyroscope, demonstrated, with the help of a pendulum, that the Earth rotates, and discovered induced currents in metallic bodies. He determined experimentally the speed of Light. He repeated his pendulum experiment in the waiting hall of the Palais de Justice of Brussels and in the chapel of Arts et Métiers 1).
