Enfant de Phœbus (L')

L'Enfant de Phœbus [The Child of Phœbus] is a painting by Augustin Desombres, much critised when it was first unveiled to the public. It was excluded from the Salon de Pâhry. An early sign of the artist's connection with the Obscure Cities, it is probably the one that allowed Jules Verne to cross over to the Other World 1).

While in the empty house in Aubrac, Desombres painted a mural with the same name. He didn't know how to paint the face until he understood that he was subconscience painting Mary, who he met not long afterwards 2).
