Bialystok

Bialystok on the edge of the forest of Bialowieza is the new location of the high speed train of the TransEuro. The location is chosen as a good location for an intersection of the train lines. Due to the fact that the forest is protected, it took a long time to build the train station. No ground machines were allowed. The 96 pillars were all brought to the site by helicopter. The architect Darius von Bouyalski is proud of his design. On opening day the station faced some problems with the bagage systems. Besides long delays, also some bagage fell down and broke some of the trees. Another con on this station is the location of the parking space. It is a 9km walk from the parking space to the station. Although it is a nice walk, the forest can be very cold 1).
