Preview 2022

The end of the year is good for a review of 2021 but also for a preview of 2022. What are the plans of François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters for the new year? Of course due to Covid-19 plans are still more unsure than ever.

“Chris Ware. La bande dessinée réinventée”, a book by Benoît Peeters and Jacques Samson will see a new edition in January 2022. The book will be published by éditions Les Impressions Nouvelles.

A new book by Benoît Peeters will be published in February 2022 at éditions Le Courrier du livre: “Cinquante moments-clés de l’histoire de la bande dessinée”.

In March 2022 older work of Schuiten and Claude Renard will be republished in a new edition of Metamorphoses.

After the death of Benoît Sokal in May 2021 François Schuiten finished the second volume of Aquarica alone. A hard and emotional loaded task. The release of this second volume is projected for May 2022.

There will be several new editions of La Tour in 2022. An English edition is announced for March 2022. Laurent Hennebelle will publish three limited editions:

  • One in a large sized black and white edition with pigment inks
  • Another large album printed with pigment inks with the pages and other documents in facsimile.
  • The third album will be facsimile edition in offset print.

An English translation of La Fièvre d'Urbicande is announced for September 2022. This will be the colored edition.

Benoît Peeters is also preparing a biography of the writer Alain Robbe-Grillet (1922-2008). It will be published fall 2022.

The “Moby-Train” project by Schuiten and sculptor Pierre Mater at the Van Praet Bridge in Brussels is about to enter its study and funding phase.

A third phase of the "Octopus Garden" project in Amiens will be revealed late 2022.
