It all started in the early years of the internet. After searching for information by telnet and gopher, it was in 1995 when Eilko Bronsema and Caspar de Wind used Mosaic, one of the first graphical webbrowsers, to search for information about François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters.
As they couldn't find the information they decided to create the information themselves. The Web of the Obscure Cities became the first version of what later became the EBBS.net website. Their own story about Joseph le Perdriel developed together with the hosting of many sites related to the Obscure Cities.
After some years of relative slow years, the EBBS.net website was converted into the altaplana.be website.
